A pair of downtown venues rank among the top entertainment facilities in the world.

According to the Billboard’s year-end ranking, Van Andel Arena is No. 4 in North America, and No. 10 worldwide, among venues that have a seating capacity between 10,001 and 15,000

Van Andel Arena also ranks No. 7 in the U.S. on Venues Today’s list of the “Top Stops of 2017” for venues with seating capacities between 10,001 and 15,000.

In the Pollstar’s ranking of the “Top 200 Arena Venues” of all sizes around the world, Van Andel Arena is No. 93, having sold 206,573 tickets last year.

DeVos Performance Hall ranks No. 19 in Pollstar’s ranking of the “Top 200 Theatre Venues” in the world having sold 221,932 tickets last year.

“We are always thrilled to make these year-end charts, and we know it is a direct result of the support we have here in Grand Rapids,” said Richard MacKeigan, regional general manager, SMG, which manages the facilities.

“The Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority’s commitment to the venues, as well as the support of SMG corporate and the community’s enthusiasm for live entertainment have made our success possible, and we are excited to continue carrying that into the future.”
