A Chicago-based developer, owner and operator of senior living communities has acquired a facility in the area.

The 54,387-square-foot property, formerly known as Elmcroft of Kentwood, located at 4352 Breton Rd. SE in Kentwood, has been rebranded Azpira Place of Breton and will be managed by Pathway to Living, effective immediately.

“We’re excited to expand our growing portfolio of senior living communities into Michigan,” said Jerome Finis, CEO, Pathway to Living. “This acquisition gives us an immediate presence in an underserved market and aligns with our strategy of investing in well-located properties where there’s room to add high-quality amenities.”

In the coming months, Pathway to Living will begin upgrading interiors and adding additional spaces to support a wellness-focused lifestyle for residents.

Select unit layouts will also be reconfigured. When the work is complete, Azpira Place of Breton will have a total of 81 apartments: 69 assisted living residences with studio and one-bedroom layouts, as well as 12 memory care residences with studio and shared-suite plans.

The purchase of Azpira Place of Breton from Kentucky-based Elmcroft Senior Living is Pathway to Living’s first acquisition of 2018.

The company now owns or manages 29 communities comprising about 2,800 units in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
