A local commercial real estate organization is acquiring a firm specializing in multi-family properties.

Colliers International West Michigan said today it will “merge” with Grand Rapids-based Beacon Realty Group.

Beacon Realty Group, founded in 2016, is a multi-family brokerage firm serving apartment owners and investors.

Beacon’s founder, Matt Jones, will join Colliers as associate vice president to help expand Colliers’ multi-family portfolio.

“By joining Colliers, our clients will now receive services of an international real estate firm with extensive property management experience,” Jones said.

Jones brings a decade of real estate experience and has facilitated nearly $250 million in transactions, according to Colliers.

“Matt brings deep experience working in multi-family investment sales that will help us provide even more value to our clients and strengthen our team,” said Jon Potvin, managing director, Colliers International West Michigan.

Previously, Jones was the managing director at a mid-market multi-family brokerage firm in Chicago. His clients have included small and large developers, private equity funds, family trusts and international investors.

Jones is a graduate of the University of Colorado and is a licensed real estate broker in Michigan and Illinois.
