A local nonprofit’s annual fundraiser is taking place downtown next week.

Paws, Claws & Corks by the Grand Rapids-based Humane Society of West Michigan, or HSWM, will be on March 12 at 6 p.m. at DeVos Place.

Funds raised through the event will help HSWM in its mission to promote the humane treatment and responsible care of animals in West Michigan and beyond through education, placement and protection.

The event features fine wines, microbrews and tastes from a variety of local businesses: Mazzo, Leo’s, One Trick Pony, CitySēn Lounge, Westside Social, The Catering Company, Furniture City Creamery, Two Scotts Barbecue, Charley’s Crab, Reserve Wine & Food, Honey Creek Inn, FOODesign, Vander Mill, Ando and Social Kitchen & Bar.

The event also features live and silent auctions.

This year, attendees can provide a donation to play with adoptable puppies and pose for photos.

“Last year, we raised more than $200,000, which helped us place more than 4,000 animals into their forever homes in 2017,” said Trudy Jeffers, executive director, HSWM.

“This event is truly special, as it’s an opportunity for us to get in front of our community to share our successes and plans for the upcoming year. We couldn’t do half of what we do without the generosity of those participating in this event and for that we continue to be grateful.”

Tickets to the event cost $100.

Sponsorship opportunities and tables remain available.
