A Grand Rapids favorite is coming to the lakeshore.

Grand Rapids-based BarFly Ventures said yesterday it is planning to open a HopCat in downtown Holland by early 2019.

The 6,200-square-foot restaurant and bar will be located at 84 W. 8th St. and be part of Sperry’s Movie House and Retail Suites, a mixed-used development by Geenen DeKock Properties.

The location will seat 250 customers inside, there will be an outdoor area that can seat 70 customers.

“We’ve considered a Holland location for years but didn’t find the right opportunity until this project came forward,” said Mark Gray, CEO, BarFly Ventures. “With many HopCat fans — and even some of our employees — living in the Holland area, this new location will also make it more convenient for people living in and visiting Holland to pay us a visit.”

HopCat Holland will feature its own “unique interior and exterior design” and 80 taps.

The food menu will feature the chain’s signature Crack Fries, stuffed burgers, sandwiches, Detroit-style pizza and other favorites.

HopCat Holland will be the chain’s eighth Michigan location and its 18th overall.

BarFly Ventures recently announced plans to open a HopCat on E. Beltline Ave. NE in Grand Rapids and in St. Louis.

The Geenen DeKock Properties development on West 8th Street will feature an 11-screen theater, retail, apartments, condominiums and a new 380-space parking deck.

The Business Journal previously reported the parking portion will be complete by June 2018, and the theater is scheduled to be complete by spring 2019.
