A denim store on the city’s West Side is moving to another neighborhood in town.

DENYM, which sells men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, will re-open on May 5 in East Hills, at 910 Cherry St. SE, the former site of the Richard App Gallery.

The store will remain open at its current location, at 443 Bridge St. NW, until Saturday.

Owner Katie Harney said the new location will be about the same size as the space on Bridge Street.

She said the main attractions were a better mix of retail and restaurants in the area and more available parking.

“It’s really just a move for the neighborhood, better parking and stuff like that,” Harney said. “When we first opened here, we had great parking. That parking lot is being taken away for new development. Some of our customers have gotten frustrated.”

DENYM will neighbor the women’s clothing boutique Marie La Mode and sit across the street from the Grove and Brewery Vivant.

The company did a small build out of the new space with new paint and additional lighting.

“It was a historic building,” Harney said. “We kept all the interior and exterior.”

Harney also wanted to dispel rumors that DENYM will not longer be selling men’s apparel.

“We’ll have about the same inventory,” she said. “We are still doing men’s and women’s. I think some guys were worried.”
