The Grand Rapids Pride Center is hosting its Proud To Be Healthy event this weekend.

The nonprofit’s event will enable physicians and service providers to address the health concerns of LGBTQ residents free of charge on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the center’s office in Grand Rapids, at 343 Atlas Ave. SE.

The mission of the event is to “reduce barriers and stigma associated with LGBTQ individuals accessing health care, particularly within the trans community.”

People will have the opportunity to meet “LGBTQ-friendly” health care professionals at the event.

The center said Proud To Be Healthy will feature a variety of services:

— Mammograms (free based on income; call ahead to confirm eligibility: 616-458-3511)
— HIV testing
— STI/STD testing
— HEP C testing
— HEP A vaccine education
— Blood pressure testing and education
— PrEP education and access
— Mental health and substance use assessments and education
— Tobacco treatment analysis
— Nutrition and healthy lifestyle education
— Medicaid and marketplace enrollment assistance

The Grand Rapids Pride Center hopes to make Proud To Be Healthy a quarterly event.
