A provider of building automation and security systems is expanding its presence in the region via acquisition.

Kalamazoo-based Knight Watch said yesterday it acquired Hudsonville-based Vertex Integration.

Both companies have mainly worked with educational, health care and Fortune 500 companies.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our building automation division with the help of Vertex,” said Eric Lindsley, CEO, Knight Watch.

Seventeen Vertex employees will be joining the 56-person Knight Watch workforce.

All existing positions have been retained.

“Knight Watch and Vertex share similar values and visions about the future of facility management, so the partnership seems very natural,” said Bill Hephner, co-founder, Vertex Integration.

Both teams plan to fully integrate and move to a larger building in 2019.
