Visitors will have the opportunity to tour a group of homes in one of Grand Rapids’ historic neighborhoods this month.

The Heritage Hill Annual Weekend Tour of Homes will take place May 19 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 20 from noon to 6 p.m.

Guests will tour 10 historic homes and buildings, including the Voigt House at 115 College Ave. SE, the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Meyer May House at 455 Madison Ave. SE and the Dennis family Greek Revival mansion at 703 Madison Ave. SE.

The tour coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Heritage Hill Association, which formed in 1968 to stop “the demolition of 75 percent of the neighborhood.”

Tickets are available in advance online, at the association's office, at 126 College Ave. SE, and at select retailers, as well as on the weekend of the tour at the GRCC DeVos Campus ticket booth, at 435 E. Fulton.. Early bird rates apply.

Although the tour is walkable, shuttles will be available to each open house.

Proceeds will benefit the Heritage Hill Association.

Heritage Hill dates back to 1843 and consists of about 1,300 homes displaying 19th- and 20th-century American architecture.

The TV show “This Old House” has named Heritage Hill among its “Best Old House Neighborhoods” in the country.
