Hope College President James E. Bultman and recently retired Calvin College President Gaylen J. Byker will be honored at Thursday's Dutch-American Heritage Day celebration for their outstanding community leadership.

Bultman became the 11th president of Hope College in 1999. Prior to that, he received degrees from Hope College, Western Michigan University and was president of Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. He’s an active member of the Reformed Church in America.

Hudsonville native Byker earned degrees from Calvin College, the University of Michigan and the University of Pennsylvania. During his 17 years as president of Calvin College, he maintained a strong commitment to the Dutch Reformed tradition.

The two will be celebrated at this year’s Dutch-American Heritage Day Celebration on Nov. 15 at the Pinnacle Center (3330 Highland Drive) in Hudsonville with a reception at 5:30 p.m. and dinner program at 6:45.

The event will also feature traditional Dutch-inspired music, costumes and food.
