Cynthia Kay and Co. picks video scholarship winner

Media production and communications firm Cynthia Kay and Company announced that it has selected Wade Balsamo as the winner of its video scholarship contest.

Balsamo is a student at North Central College in Naperville, Ill.

He submitted a video promoting nonprofit Walk On, which is a philanthropic organization that provides equine-assisted activities to people with physical, cognitive, social and emotional disabilities and helps inspire people to advance to their highest potential.

“We really liked the overall look, feel and message of Wade’s production, and we really felt like it hit the criteria,” said Michael Krampe, VP of marketing & strategic communications at CK & CO. “It also had a real professional production element to it.”

Balsamo will receive a $1,000 scholarship from CK & CO. The company will also award $500 to Walk On.

This is the first year that CK & CO has held the national video scholarship contest. It received approximately 20 entries from high school and college students.

“We got a lot of really good applications and really good interested talent out there,” Krampe said. “We wanted to use this contest to help to identify some upcoming talent in the industry and to try to promote our industry as well and get people excited about it.”
