Whirlpool calls for 'fridgies'

Whirlpool wants to know what’s in your fridge.

The home appliance maker in Benton Harbor said this week that it’s launching a social media campaign that encourages people to take a snapshot of the inside of their refrigerator and post it on the company’s Facebook page.

The brand will be curating the consumer-created “fridgies” and hosting polls and sweepstakes throughout the campaign.

A lot can be gleaned from a glance inside someone’s refrigerator, and Whirlpool expects the fridgies to document the diverse lives of families and their eating choices, from takeout dining to gourmet meals.

Everyone is encouraged to flaunt their post online with the hashtag #fridgie.

“The fridgie is our way of celebrating what makes families different and what brings them all together,” said Jon Hall, senior brand manager, Whirlpool brand.
