A survey of hotels in the Midwest found that Grand Rapids is the sixth “most-expensive destination" in the region.

Grand Rapids ranks No. 6 in the ranking of “The most expensive destinations in the Midwest,” by Chicagohotels.org, which compared 30 Midwest cities based on the cost of lodging prices during May.

A stay in Grand Rapids during the month of May averages $154, according to Chicagohotels.org, which looked at each city’s average rate for its cheapest available double room.

Only centrally located hotels rated at least three stars and with a positive average guest rating were considered for the survey.

May was selected for the survey, because it is when most cities in the region will reach their highest average rates of the year, according to the website.

Ann Arbor ranks No. 3 in the ranking, and Detroit ranks No. 9.
