The West Michigan Whitecaps are turning to their fans to add a concessions item.

The Whitecaps, in partnership with Zeeland Food Services, opened their inbox this week to submissions from fans on potential foods to be served at Fifth Third Ballpark.

The winner of the annual Fan Food Vote will be on the concessions menu for the 2017 season.

“The fan response is always great, and the ideas range from simple to the outrageous,” said Jason Brower, fan engagement and social media coordinator, West Michigan Whitecaps. “It’s a great way for West Michigan to shake off the winter blues.”

Submissions will be accepted through Jan. 27 by email at playball at whitecapsbaseball dot com or online. Submissions should be accompanied by a complete description and photo, if possible.

Following the submission period, several food items will be considered finalists, and fans will have the opportunity to vote for their choices at whitecapsbaseball.com, beginning on Feb. 23. The Whitecaps’ first home game is April 6.

Previous winners of the contest include the Declaration of Indigestion, Chicks with Sticks, Baco and the 2016 winner Dutch Love, a combination of pot roast, cheese curds, french fries and gravy.
