A local brewery is celebrating its fifth anniversary this weekend.

Harmony Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids, at 1551 Lake Dr. SE, will release a special beer, Birthday Barleywine, and host an hour of “family fun” and a Vinyl Night All Stars event to celebrate its birthday tomorrow.

The family event will run from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and include a new brunch menu and comedian PJ Weber.

The Vinyl Night All Stars event will feature DJs from Harmony’s regular Vinyl Thursday events.

Harmony Brewing Co. was opened in February 2012 by siblings Heather Van Dyke-Titus, Barry Van Dyke and Jackson Van Dyke.

The company then opened a second location, Harmony Hall, on Grand Rapids’ West Side.

“It’s been an amazing five years,” Jackson Van Dyke said. “Opening Harmony gave us the opportunity to pursue things that we’re truly passionate about: inventive, creative beer, simple but delicious food and being a part of building our community and city.

“Since we’ve opened, Harmony has been a part of, and witnessed, Grand Rapids being recognized as Beer City, U.S.A., a national and even global beer destination. It's been an honor to be a founding member and president of the Beer City Brewer’s Guild.

“I appreciate the opportunity to help grow and expand Grand Rapid’s beer culture and Harmony’s place in it.”
