A community organizer and political activist will deliver a presentation on "Latino influence on current and future American life" at Grand Valley State University on Thursday.

Rosa Clemente will present “Presente! Latinos y Latinas in the 21st Century” as part of GVSU's Hispanic Heritage Month at 6 p.m. at the Kirkhof Center.

The event is free in conjunction with the university’s Professionals of Color Lecture Series by the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

Clemente has worked on issues such as hip-hop activism, youth voter engagement, third-party politics and immigrants’ rights for more than 15 years.

She has traveled to universities with two tours, Dare to Struggle, Dare to Win and Speak the Truth to Power. She also regularly speaks at high schools and prisons.

Clemente holds a master’s degree in professional studies from Cornell University.
