A local economic equity organization is launching an October challenge for Grand Rapids residents.

Grand Rapids Area Black Businesses, or GRABB, created the 30 Days 30 Dollars Challenge for October, which challenges 600 Grand Rapids consumers to spend $30 at black-owned Grand Rapids businesses.

The goal of the challenge is to raise awareness of local black-owned businesses and increase their capital, aiding in their sustainability, according to the organization’s website.

The challenge includes a Snap, Share & Win contest, where participants can share photos of their purchases on social media, making sure to tag GRABB, and be entered to win a bag of products from local black-owned businesses.

Participants are asked to join the challenge by taking the pledge.

Participants can find black-owned businesses in the organization’s directory.
