Egypt's bumpy transition from the autocratic rule of President Hosni Mubarak to its post-Arab Spring reality has put many on edge. What is the role of the military, the Muslim Brotherhood and the growth of civil or secular groups, and especially the role of women, in a transition to democracy? What challenges does the new Egypt pose for American policymakers and U.S. allies in the region? Dr. Annie Dandavati is a 2012 Visiting Professor at the American University in Cairo and currently a professor at Hope College
