The revitalization of Downtown Grand Rapids is shaping and re-energizing the real estate market in the city. In the last decade, Downtown GR has experienced major investment of public and private funding into medical buildings, schools and conference centers. Some of the more well-known investments are: the Grand Rapids Museum, Van Andel Arena, the so-called “Medical Mile" or "Grand Rapids Medical Hill”, Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine, and Grand Rapids Downtown Market (to be open on May 4), among others. The Grand Rapids Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has been in the center of all these changes. Part of the DDA’s role is to lead and coordinate all the revitalization activities. Kris Larson, Executive Director of Grand Rapids DDA will join us for this meeting to give us a general overview of the organization. Mr. Larson will also give us an update on some of the current initiatives happening Downtown.
