The Third Annual Grand River GreenUp, West Michigan's largest Earth Day event, will take place on Saturday, June 1. The 400-volunteer clean-up event, put on by The West Michigan Environmental Action Council and the Grand Haven Area Jaycees, will cover approximately 20 miles of the Grand River, its tributaries, and parts of the Lake Michigan Shoreline. The event was postponed due to safety concerns and flooding. The GreenUp has expanded this year, with new sites in Spring Lake, Ferrysburg, and Grand Haven. Those interested in volunteering can register for the Grand River GreenUp at www.grandrivergreenup.com. Organizations interested in sponsoring the event can contact WMEAC at firstname.lastname@example.org.
