West Michigan Environmental Action Council and Grand Valley State University are launching a new regional initiative to promote energy efficiency and clean energy collaboration across West Michigan. West Michigan Energy Leaders will launch with a facilitated forum on Tuesday, October 15 at the Grand Valley State University Alumni House in Allendale. The event will provide an opportunity for energy-minded leaders to share information, identify specific focus issues, and highlight opportunities. Facilitators will include Dev Butler of THINC, Danielle Lake of GVSU and Rachel Hood and Nicholas Occhipinti of West Michigan Environmental Action Council. In addition to providing a general overview of clean and efficient energy opportunities in West Michigan, several current innovative energy projects and concepts from West Michigan will be presented by forum participants. A total of six to 10 projects will be presented for consideration. Organizers are currently evaluating projects and will announce a final agenda in early October. Breakout sessions after the main presentations will allow attendees to develop and share ideas in a more focused setting. The forum will bring together a consortium of energy experts, entrepreneurs, officials and constituents. Check-in will begin at 9 a.m, with the forum from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Learn more and register at wmenergyleaders.com. Those interested in presenting an energy project may submit their proposal at the above link, as well. For more information, contact Nicholas Occhipinti at (616) 451-3051 x23 or nocchipinti@wmeac.org.
