MUSKEGON —RTS Industrial Supply Company — the distribution division of Muskegon’s massive Reid Tool Supply — reports that it has begun moving north.

The firm announced it has expanded beyond its previous territory of West Michigan to penetrate counties new to it in Northern Michigan.

Heretofore, the firm — situated near the Port City Industrial Park — served clients in Ottawa, Kent and Oceana counties as well as its home community.

Now its footprint covers the northwest corner of the Lower Peninsula — basically every county north and west of Mecosta, and extending one county east of that north-south line, to embrace Otsego.

The new counties included in the expansion are Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Kalkaska, Grand Traverse, Benzie, Leelanau, Missaukee, Wexford, Manistee, Osceola, Mason and Lake.

RTS also reports having added Doug Waha of the Traverse City area to its team.

Waha is a direct salesperson for RTS who has thorough knowledge of the RTS/Reid Tool product line. RTS says his proximity to the firm’s new service regions is designed to better serve customers of RTS and Reid Tool.

RTS specializes in distributing the 45,000 tooling components that Reid Tool carries.

It also represents more than 160 manufacturers of abrasives, gauging, cutting and machine tools.

RTS advises that several West Michigan companies use RTS products for a host of applications, including the manufacture of products for the marine, medical, industrial, pharmaceutical, transportation and defense industries.

Both firms are 55 years old this year
