GRAND RAPIDS — Knoware, a locally based software firm, announced today that it has acquired Fuel Interactive Inc. — a move that it says will help to triple sales this year.

Knoware said the acquisition of the award-winning company brings it extensive experience in interface design, dovetailing with its specialization in software and Web site development and technology consulting.

According to Eric Hass, vice president of business development, Knoware partnered during the past year with Fuel Interactive on a number of projects.

“The capabilities in design and digital storytelling that they bring to the table complement the services we offer and it made tremendous sense to join forces.”

He said the acquisition will strengthen Knoware’s technology offerings and presents clients a more comprehensive suite of services.

He said Knoware anticipates hiring new workers in the next year to handle national and international companies, among which are Deutsche Bank, Novell Systems, Wolverine World Wide, Siemans Dematic, Telecharge and Global Forex Tradition.

Knoware also serves West Michigan office furniture manufacturers and automotive and food distribution companies.

“We anticipate strong growth in the year ahead,” Hass said, “and look forward to improving our visibility in the markets that we serve.”

Knoware was founded in 2002 and Fuel Interactive came into being in 1994. The company specialized in business application design, Web site development and digital storytelling.
