Nominations Open For 05 EOY
GRAND RAPIDS — Ernst & Young is seeking nominations of West Michigan entrepreneurs for the Entrepreneur Of The Year 2005 Awards.
“Recognizing outstanding entrepreneurs for their successful accomplishments is important for encouraging new business development,” said Chris Bruner, national director of the EOY program.
Awards are given to entrepreneurs “who have demonstrated excellence and extraordinary success” in such areas as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their businesses and communities.
Categories and industry segments include arts and entertainment; consumer and business services; defense and security; financial services; hospitality/real estate/construction; information technology; life sciences; manufacturing; networking and communications; and retail and consumer products.
Nomination forms are inserted in the Business Journal and are available by calling Kristie Burns at (616) 336-8392. Applications also can be submitted online at www.ey.com/us/eoy.
All nominations must be received by April 8, 2005. Self-nominations are encouraged. There is no cost involved.
A panel of independent judges made up of West Michigan business, civic and academic leaders will select the regional award recipients. Regional winners are automatically considered as candidates for the national EOY Award, and the overall national EOY winner is considered for the EOY world award event.
Last year, 11 West Michigan entrepreneurs across nine categories received EOY awards out of nearly 40 entrepreneurs nominated.
Local sponsors of the EOY Awards are Fifth Third Bank, Marsh USA Inc., Miller, Johnson, Snell & Cummiskey PLC, Seidman School of Business, Grand Rapids Business Journal and WGVU.
