MUSKEGON — Muskegon’s Hooker|Dejong Architects & Engineers were among one of only five recipients of the 2007 Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation for its rehabilitation of the Muskegon Boilerworks factory.

The $7 million downtown redevelopment project, Art Works of Muskegon, was designed by Hooker|Dejong and developed by Muskegon Construction Co. Completed in June 2006, it features 26 loft-style apartments intended for the artist community, complete with display and performance areas.

The award program was created in 2003 by Gov. Jennifer Granholm to recognize outstanding historic preservation projects throughout the state. CQ
