County Likely To Extend Top Official
GRAND RAPIDS — Kent County commissioners are likely to extend the employment contract of Daryl Delabbio for three more years next week.
Delabbio has held the post of county administrator and controller, a position equivalent to a corporate CEO, since February 1999. His new contract would run from Jan. 1, 2008, to Dec. 31, 2010.
The county’s Legislative and Physical Resources Committee approved the agreement last week. The full commission is expected to vote on the contract on Aug. 8.
Delabbio earns $146,100, and the new contract could push his salary up to $153,489, the maximum wage for the position. The county annually adjusts wages in November.
“I highly recommend him,” said Commissioner David Morren, also a former commission chairman. “I don’t think he is necessarily overpaid. His salary is less than some of our highly paid educators.”
