Nichols Offers 'Green' Backing
MUSKEGON — Nichols, a distributor of janitorial and packaging supplies and equipment, is offering a scholarship through the Grand Valley State University College of Interdisciplinary Studies Sustainability Initiative.
According to a news release, the scholarship “is to encourage leadership and education with a high sense of awareness for the environment and humanity’s role in helping preserve it for future generations. The scholarship rewards students who are committed to making a difference as it pertains to environmental, social and fiscal responsibility.”
Candidates considered for the scholarship are required to be enrolled at full-time status and must be in their sophomore year. The GVSU College of Interdisciplinary Studies Sustainability Initiative will take applications. Applicants are required to write a short essay of approximately 500 words that describes their goals and focuses on sustainability. Full scholarship specifications are outlined in the application; however, demonstration of financial need is not a requirement of eligibility.
In an effort to encourage continued commitment students awarded will have the opportunity to renew the scholarship for up to four semesters. Recipients and donors of the scholarship will be recognized at the annual Scholarship Celebration Dinner and at events held by the College of Interdisciplinary Studies Sustainability Initiative.
Nichols’ corporate office and main distribution center is located in Muskegon and the company has branches in Grand Rapids, Holland, Jackson and Traverse City.
