HOLLAND — The West Michigan World Trade Association will present Haworth Inc. with the 2008 World Trader of the Year award on Monday at the Economic Club of Grand Rapids luncheon. World Trade Week runs Monday through Friday of next week and will be celebrated with a number of scheduled events in Grand Rapids that will focus on the global economy.

Haworth is an international supplier of office furniture and work space solutions that exports to more than 60 counties and imports to 11 countries. Haworth is headquartered in Holland and has manufacturing facilities in Holland, Allegan, Big Rapids and Douglas, as well as plants in China, India and Europe.

“We are truly honored to be receiving this recognition,” said Henry Oosterhouse, global transportation manager. “There are so many reputable companies in West Michigan that ship all over the world, and for us to be recognized with this award is a privilege.”

Each year, WMWTA members nominate candidates for World Trader of the Year award, which recognizes a business, organization or individual that has “demonstrated a commitment to international trade in this region,” according to the association.
