Spectrum Health broke ground last week on a new medical services pavilion in Holland. The two-story, 58,000-square-foot building will go in at 588 E. Lakewood Blvd. and will house five Spectrum medical groups that provide 15 services.

Spectrum has been leasing five office spaces in Holland for its medical groups and those leases are set to expire next year. The new pavilion is expected to be completed next spring. Integrated Architecture designed the pavilion. Elzinga & Volkers will manage the construction. The pavilion is going up on a brownfield site and Spectrum will apply for LEED certification for the building.

“It makes a great deal of sense for us to consolidate these services in one modern facility,” said James Tucci, president of the Spectrum Health Medical Group. “Our patients who reside in the area will benefit from having multiple services in one easily accessible location.”

Spectrum was recently named by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top 50 hospitals for diabetes treatment and endocrinology care. The magazine also listed Spectrum as a top performer in 10 other categories.

“This national recognition reflects the commitment our physicians and employees have made in providing services on a level with the best hospitals in the country,” said Matt VanVranken, executive vice president of the Spectrum Health Delivery System. “Our focus has always been high quality care. This listing underscores the achievements and abilities of our entire team.”
