Start Garden has made two more $5,000 initial investments.

The first investment idea, selected by the Start Garden team, is Fresh Milled Oats. The idea is described on its Start Garden page by creator Scott Below as “a bulk bin and mill that rolls your oats fresh, in store, like a coffee grinder but for oats.”

The process is fresh, Below said, and fresh is better tasting and better for consumers’ health.

“Our mill allows you to mill your oats fresh and in store,” Below wrote on his Start Garden page. “In addition, our oats are never steamed, so the resulting oatmeal has a heartier texture, yet they cook as quick as other rolled oats. . . . steel cut-like texture but without the wait and milled fresh for you in store.”

The second investment idea, selected by public endorsement, is Tagged Weddings. The idea, created by Ben Peterson, is a gallery website that allows viewers to browse tagged galleries of real local weddings.

Peterson said the idea is to allow users to create an online visual community where brides can see vendors’ work and get their own ideas. As a website, it could even work internationally, he said.

“Think Pinterest for weddings but local,” Peterson wrote on his Start Garden Page. “Brides love to browse Pinterest. Then they hit up Google or sites with vendor lists to search for local vendors.”

Peterson would like to see that vendor work stay local.
