Change Ups: Visbeen snags Best in the Midwest award
Visbeen Architects won six awards in the National Association of Home Builder’s 2012 Best in American Living Awards, including the high honor of Best in the Midwest. The award-winning projects included a sprawling estate, a cottage remodel, an Adirondack cabin and the conceptual design of a storybook home. The top honor went to an infill project in East Grand Rapids called the Warren.
The Michigan Farm Bureau honored the Ottawa County Farm Bureau with its Excellence in Grassroots Lobbying Award for its lobbying efforts on behalf of its farmer members at the local, state and national level.

Calvin College history professor James Bratt is the 21st recipient of the college’s Presidential Award for Exemplary Teaching, the highest distinction Calvin bestows to a faculty member. Calvin also announced its graduates are among the national leaders in pass rates on the certified public accountant exam, with nearly 75 percent passing the exam on their first attempt in 2012.
