Five Below opens two more West Michigan stores
As we speak, teens and pre-teens across the state might be celebrating their new retail options.
Five Below, an "extreme-value" retailer, opened six new stores in Michian today, giving the retailer 24 stores in the state.
Five Below sells "trend right" merchandise priced at $5 and below and designed for the teen and pre-teen market.
The new stores hired approximately 20 to 25 employees each.

Five Below spokesperson Denise DiMeglio said the new stores are necessary due to Five Below’s recent track record of successful openings in Michigan and strategic real estate opportunities.
Centerpointe Mall plans
Five Below also plans to open three more stores this summer in Grand Rapids, Lansing and Flint, she said.
The Grand Rapids store will be going in the Centerpointe Mall, at 3665 28th St. SE in Grand Rapids, DiMeglio said, adding that she expects it to run regular store hours and hire about 20-25 staff.
“It’s just a natural progession of the store,” she said. “Five Below has been moving westward, and the regional opportunity presented itself.
"Five Below opened its first Michigan stores in July 2011," she said. "The company began with five stores in Metro Detroit and has since expanded.”
Five Below was founded in Philadelphia in 2002 by David Schlessinger, also the founder of Zany Brainy and Encore Books, and Tom Vellios, former CEO of Zany Brainy.
Since then, about 250 Five Below locations have been opened across 19 different states, with plans to open 60 new stores by the end of this year, putting the store number around 300.
The new Five Below stores will be open from 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Sunday.
