Helms Caulking construction equipment heads to online auction

A A will be holding an online liquidation auction on May 2 for Helms Caulking of Grand Rapids, which was once one of the largest commercial caulking firms in Michigan.

Byron Center-based, a Miedema Asset Management company, said Helms was a “family owned business that started generations ago” and “has decided to shut its doors and utilize the services of to sell all of its remaining assets,” including a wide variety of construction tools and equipment.

Helms Caulking did the “largest sheet waterproofing job in the state of Michigan” in 1996 at the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, according to Other large projects included Battle Creek City Hall, the Children’s Museum in Grand Rapids, Holland Hospital and many others.

The phone number for Helms, listed on its website and in the 2012 AT&T phone book, is now answered by Ram Construction Services, a Livonia-based company that recently opened an office in Wyoming.
