West Michigan companies make strong showing on national Best and Brightest list
A handful of West Michigan’s best and brightest firms are worthy of a spot on the national Best and Brightest Companies to Work For list.
The 101 West Michigan winners were honored during a presentation last week that recognized companies for providing outstanding human resources practices.
Now, some of them are getting national attention.
“West Michigan is a true gem as far as best practices go,” said Jennifer Kluge, president and CEO of the Michigan Business and Professional Association, which presents the program. “The West Michigan elite winners definitely stand out, and there were a significant number of national Best and Brightest winners from the West Michigan region, including Southwest Michigan First (which received the Best of the Best Award for the region). What this tells me is that on a national level, West Michigan is above average in employment practices.
“As we discussed at the event, it is imperative that human resources professionals and CEOs start thinking strategically about their operations and focus on global trends related to talent. The Best and Brightest companies understand this and that is what makes them stand out. It’s not about human resources; it’s about company performance. It’s also about leaders’ attention to detail; understanding the impact of company policies and procedures on their people.”
