JuiceBlendz orders Grand Rapids location
Downtown Grand Rapids is getting a new juice bar.
JuiceBlendz, a Florida-based juice and smoothie bar franchise, will be arriving this summer at 15 Ionia Ave. SW, said Chad Clemens, a realtor with M Retail who finalized the move with JuiceBlendz.
JuiceBlendz offers dietary smoothies and juices, breakfast bagels, wraps, sandwiches and salads.
The juice bar is planning to open its doors before Art Prize and is tentatively expected to be up and running by July 31, Clemens said.
The bar's owners were looking at locations on Alpine Avenue, East Beltline, 28th Street and the RiverTown Crossings Mall before the space downtown opened up, and JuiceBlendz quickly moved on it, Clemens said.

Clemens added that exciting things are happening in downtown Grand Rapids, and the JuiceBlendz owners are very excited to ride the wave of energy the city is seeing right now.
“There’s half a million people that go through Van Andel, and there’s Art Prize and the River Bank Run," Clemens said. "That spot just made sense for their opening. There’s the overall traffic. You’ve got the younger crowd, lots of college students and people in their late 20s and 30s who go to breweries. It just made sense.”
JuiceBlendz did not respond to inquiries as of Thursday. The franchise lists Grand Rapids among the pending locations on its website.
JuiceBlendz has eight locations in Florida and one in Oklahoma, with 25 new openings planned across Michigan, California, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and Washington, D.C.
This is the second juice bar set for a summer opening in Grand Rapids.
Sip Organic Juice Bar, at 6770 28th St. SE, announced in April plans to open up another shop in Eastown, at 423 Norwood Ave. SE.
The organic health bar expects a June 1 opening for the new space.
