Comcast opens Xfinity store in Grand Rapids
Now that West Michigan’s first Xfinity store has opened, Comcast is ready to spread the concept across the state.
Since Xfinity opened its first Michigan store in Macomb County this February, a growing interest has led to company expansion, said Rob Ponto, a member of Comcast’s public relations team.
The first Xfinity store in West Michigan recently opened in a 3,100-square-foot space in Knapp’s Corner, at 1971 East Beltline Ave. NE, Suite 116.
The store, which Comcast spent $400,000 renovating, opened last month and created six jobs.
At least three more Xfinity stores are now being planned on Michigan’s east side within the next five years, Ponto said.
The expansion is part of bigger Xfinity picture, said Larry Williamson, Comcast area vice president.
Xfinity is opening stores across the country, he said, hoping to create a better experience for customers, who can come into the local stores, explore the latest products, check out offers, get upgrades, make payments, or exchange equipment.
Dealing with customers on a face-to-face basis helps create an overall product that provides entertainment and information quickly and easily, he said.
“It’s an exciting time,” Williamson said. “It’s changing how customers and consumers are accessing what they want. We’re seeing a lot more of the mobility and on-the-go. People want that experience.”
