Scoops ice cream delivers second store in West Michigan
A local ice cream shop that specializes in door-to-door delivery will open its second store in West Michigan next month.
Scoops Ice Cream Shoppe, which opened its first shop in Walker last year, will open a store in Allendale on Aug. 16, near Grand Valley State University, at 10987 48th Ave.
The retailer is looking to hire 30-40 part-time employees, said Emily Griesa, owner of Scoops.
The new space will feature a 30-person indoor seating area and an outdoor patio area that seats about 20 people.
Although hours for the new store have not been set yet, late-night delivery will be available at the new store.
Griesa said Scoops Ice Cream is looking forward to being involved with GVSU and the Allendale community.
She added that Scoops will continue to host fundraising nights to help smaller school organizations.
“The GVSU students and staff demanded an Allendale location in the fall of 2012 and again in the spring of 2013,” she said. “Many of the students at GV do not have a vehicle while at school, and the delivery of coffee and ice cream fills the void perfectly.”
The Allendale store’s menu will feature a number of “treats” Griesa said: ice cream nachos, parfaits, shakes, malts, sundaes, hard and soft ice cream and slushies.
The GVSU location will also be adding a full coffee menu, including lattes, cappuccinos, chai tea, hot chocolate and various specialty flavored coffee drinks.
