DEARBORN — AAA Michigan said about 1.3 million state residents are expected to travel during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

The auto club said the people are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home, and the number is about the same as last year's total.

About 90 percent of Michigan travelers will go by personal vehicle, while the rest of people will travel by plane, bus or train, according to AAA Michigan.

Overall, AAA estimated that 43.4 million Americans will travel for Thanksgiving.

The holiday period runs Nov. 27-Dec. 1.
