As wind chills continue to dip and heaters work overtime, a brewing company is bringing a taste of the Pacific to Michigan.

While 49 states seem to be experiencing record wind chills, it’s possible to get a taste of the 50th state, without spending thousands on airfare and lodging, as Kona Brewing Co. launches in Michigan this month.

The company in Kona, Hawaii will begin distributing its palate-friendly Longboard Island Lager and Big Wave Golden Ale.

The move will bring the brewery to Wisconsin and Kentucky as well.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding Kona Longboard Island Lager and Big Wave Golden Ale to Kentucky, Michigan and Wisconsin,” said Robert Rentsch, senior director of brand and marketing at Kona Brewing. “Last year at this time, when we started our expansion in the Midwest, consumers were excited to enjoy a Kona brew and the Liquid Aloha spirit. We’re looking forward to brightening up this winter and bringing some Liquid Aloha to consumers in our three newest states.”

The brewery was started in 1994 and has experienced double-digit growth for more than five years.

“Kona is excited to continue this trend of growth in 2014, by introducing these new markets to our portfolio of authentic Hawaiian craft beers,” Rentsch said.
