A craft spirits maker in the region recently brought home a pair of golds from an international competition.

New Holland Artisan Spirits’ Beer Barrel Bourbon won gold last month in the Best Bourbon Whiskey category, along with four other whiskeys, at the International Whiskey Competition in Chicago.

The distiller’s Zeppelin Bend was also the sole gold winner for Best American Whiskey.

Entries at the International Whiskey Competition are blind tasted and rated by a panel of professional judges.

The event is designed to promote and discover whiskies from around the world.

New Holland Brewing started its distillery program in 2005.
