Drive promotions include beer, faith and family
With a coach at the helm, the Grand Rapids Drive announced its inaugural season’s schedule on Tuesday.
Former Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith was introduced as the team’s coach last week, paving the way for release of the season schedule and promotional calendar. Rosters will be finalized in November.
The team will open Nov. 15 with a four-day road trip in Bakersfield, Calif. The four days will give the new team some extra time to prepare for its first home game.
The Los Angeles D-Fenders will visit on Nov. 26 for the Drive’s home opener, the night before Thanksgiving. The NBA Development League team’s home games will be played at DeltaPlex Arena and Conference Center in Grand Rapids.
Individual tickets for the 24 home games will go on sale at 10 a.m. Oct. 3. Season tickets also are available and range from $8 to $62 per game.
Theme nights will be held on a regular basis, including $1 Beer/College Night, Charitable Jersey Takeover Night and Family Night. Several other promotions, including those with themes involving faith and fellowship, military appreciation and a Pistons tribute, also are in the works.
The 48-game schedule ends with a game at Delaware on April 4, with the playoffs following shortly thereafter if the Drive makes the postseason.
