Car dealer plans jobs for expansion
A car dealer with a “greatly expanding” business is planning to hire 20 to 30 employees for its newly acquired space on 29th Street.
Todd Wenzel Automotive said this week that it has purchased the former Suburban Saturn service facility in Grand Rapids, at 2700 29th St. SE.
The car dealer will remodel the 34,000-square-foot space to move in its Collision and Appearance Center, which is currently housed at Todd Wenzel Buick GMC, which is about one mile away on 28th Street SE.
“We have recognized for some time now that our Buick and GMC business is greatly expanding, and the 28th Street facility is bursting at the seams,” Wenzel said.
Wenzel said he expects to open the new facility in late November, re-locating about 30 employees to the location.
The dealer plans to add about 20 to 30 employees to the site for various positions: body, paint and mechanical technicians, detailers, call center representatives and clerical and managerial.
Todd Wenzel Automotive also plans to move its centralized business development to the building’s second floor.
“This expansion will provide much-needed relief and allow for additional mechanical service growth,” Wenzel said. “Our customers will experience a better and more expedient flow in our service lane, as well as a quicker turnaround time when their vehicle is in service.”
It’s been a year of expansion for Todd Wenzel Automotive.
In July, the dealer announced plans to open a used-car dealership in Hudsonville, which opened this month.
Back in April, the dealer announced it had purchased Jim Waldron Buick GMC, which operated in the Flint market.
