Digital marketing firm flies solo — again
A digital marketing firm is moving and re-branding after ending a long-running partnership with another agency.
MINDSCAPE, which was formerly known as MINDSCAPE at Hanon McKendry, said today that it’s now just MINDSCAPE. The digital firm had partnered with the Grand Rapids branding firm Hanon McKendry, now DO MORE GOOD, for seven years.
The firms are no longer equity partners, according to Paul Ferrier, co-founder, MINDSCAPE.
“We are extremely excited to continue to collaborate with the firm, while pursuing our individual directions and focus areas,” Ferrier said.
Ferrier and MINDSCAPE co-founder Pete Brand will continue to run the re-branded firm.
The firm sells web development, design and “performance-optimization” services. It also operates a Detroit office
To accommodate continued growth, MINDSCAPE will be moving from the firm’s downtown Grand Rapids location, at 25 Ottawa Ave. SW., to the John Widdicomb Building on west side of the city, at 601 5th St. NW.
The firm plans to move into a temporary space in the building in early February, while Copper Rock Construction completes the build out on the 7,000-square-foot permanent space, which is expected to be complete by April.
MINDSCAPE plans to be an active part of the neighborhood. The firm said it's “happy to become re-engaged” with the westside business community.
“We are proud of the investment that's being made in the community, and we are ready to roll up our sleeves and contribute in an active way," Brand said.
MINDSCAPE has recently added four people to its Grand Rapids team and plans to add five to seven additional hires during the next 18 months, as it aims to become a $10-million firm in the next three years.
Recent hires have come from the ad agency Team Detroit, the Syracuse University M.B.A. program and Priority Health.
"I think our new hires show our desire to add top-notch talent from all over the U.S. and bring them to our amazing city," Brand said.
MINDSCAPE was founded in 2001 and joined Hanon McKendry in 2008, to provide the advertising firm with in-house Internet programming, design and marketing specialists.
The firm relocated its operations from Muskegon to Grand Rapids in 2007, doubling its size to 13 employees at that time.
Today, the firm has grown to a team of 22.
The firm has been named one of Inc. magazine’s 5,000 fastest-growing companies in the U.S. for three years in a row.
