A man has been arrested after crashing a pickup through the gate at a U.S. Coast Guard station.

The Coast Guard said Ottawa County dispatchers received a phone call at about 6 a.m. on Sunday from a man claiming he had a bomb in his truck and was going to blow up the station in Grand Haven.

The pickup crashed through the gate as evacuation notifications were taking place.

Grand Haven Public Safety Director Jeff Hawke said the man broke into a building, assaulted Coast Guard personnel and said a bomb was in the truck.

Hawke said the incident is being treated as "an act of domestic terrorism," because it occurred at a federal building.

No bomb has been found.
