Brewery produces street festival
A brewery is beginning to sell advance tickets for its summer street party.
Founders Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids will host Founders Fest 2015 on June 20 from 3-11 p.m.
The event runs outside of Founders on Grandville Avenue SW, between Cherry and Bartlett.
“Founders Fest is the highlight of our summer and our biggest event of the year,” said Mark Dorich, Founders Fest director and VP of retail operations, Founders Brewing Co. "It’s special for us to have an opportunity to celebrate with our community, right here on the streets surrounding our brewery.”
Mike Stevens, co-founder & CEO, Founders Brewing, said the festival gives the brewery “the opportunity to get our family, friends and community together for a day, so that we can toast to all of them.”
The brewery’s own FBC All-Stars will rock the stage at this year’s Founders Fest, along with a pair of acts from Grand Rapids: jazz group Organissimo and rock band Devin and the Dead Frets.
New Orleans’ Dirty Dozen Brass Band will highlight the evening.
Several other bands will be part of the day’s lineup: Oregon’s world-beat artists Nahko and Medicine for the People; Colorado’s folk-Americana act Elephant Revival; Atlanta’s indie rock band Gringo Star; and Traverse City’s bluegrass duo Billy Strings & Don Julin.
Local food and artist vendors will be featured throughout the festival, which will also include strolling and surprise artists.
Beer tents with year-round offerings and taproom specialties will be flowing.
The taproom will be closed.
The street party has achieved a more than 90 percent waste-diversion rate the previous two years, with a goal to improve upon the rate this year.
Advance discounted tickets go on sale April 17 at the Founders taproom and online.
