A packaged-water company has secured a distribution deal that will put it on the shelves of more than 400 Target stores across the country.

Target space

Boxed Water, which is headquartered in Grand Rapids and produces its carton-based product in Holland, said last week that Target will offer 500 ml, 500 ml six packs and 1-liter cartons of Boxed Water in stores with premium water offerings.

The retailer will provide Boxed Water with in-store point of sale and merchandising support.

Jeremy Adams, VP of marketing at Boxed Water, said Target is “an ideal fit” for the Boxed Water product, because the retailer’s consumers tend to be “design driven and environmentally friendly.”

“We are confident that our convenient, sustainable alternative to bottled water will resonate with the Target shopper,” Adams said.

Boxed Water has 76 distributors and is available in more than 6,000 stores in the U.S., including a variety of retail channels, such as natural, club, convenience and mass retailers.

The company said it is also growing distribution in Canada and Mexico.

Each carton of Boxed Water is made using renewable paper from certified, “well-managed forests” and is 100 percent recyclable.

The company said the design and shipping of its package also help minimize the carbon footprint to supply packaged water.

The company’s water is triple filtered "for purity," using reverse osmosis, carbon filtration and UV.
