Amway rolls out weight-management program globally
An Amway brand is rolling out a personalized weight-management program — using either a genetic test or an assessment based on “validated science” — to the global marketplace.
Ada-based Amway said last month that it is rolling out the BodyKey by Nutrilite program globally after launching a pilot version of the program in the North America market a couple years ago.
The program features an Inherent Health genetic test or an assessment — to determine what “nutrition strategy may prove most beneficial in helping each person reach their goals.”
The availability of the genetic test and assessment in particular countries is determined by the needs of consumers in each market and regulations.
The program is supported by Amway’s Nutrilite shakes, bars and snacks, which provide food options that fit BodyKey’s suggested diets.
BodyKey also features meal plans based on nutrition guidelines “endorsed” by the Nutrilite Health Institute and exercise strategies.
The BodyKey by Nutrilite program uses the Inherent Health genetic test, developed by Interleukin Genetics.
It requires a simple cheek swab that is shipped to a lab for scientific analysis. The results help determine what nutrient strategy a person should follow.
The genetic test also indicates what level of physical activity an individual should consider for optimum results, high intensity or low intensity.
The Inherent Health-based BodyKey program features three plans: Carb Sensitive; Fat Trimmer; and Better Balancer.
The BodyKey by Nutrilite assessment is a “comprehensive,” U.S. patent-pending assessment covering six characteristics that are backed by “extensive scientific evidence,” regarding their ability to influence a person's weight: diet type, eating habits, sleep habits, stress, exercise and mindset.
The result is a 30-page document with personal lifestyle recommendations and results, including details about six areas of a person's lifestyle and habits and what nutrient strategy may yield the most beneficial results.
The assessment-based BodyKey program features two plans: Carb Reducer and Fat Trimmer.
Amway’s Nutrilite brand is made up of vitamin, mineral and dairy supplement lines that use plant-based ingredients.
Amway said the products are “developed for personal daily vitamin and mineral nutrition, heart health, strong bones and weight management.”
