A brewery is going extra hoppy with its latest special release.

Specialty IPA

Founders Brewing Co. in Grand Rapids said today that it’s releasing reDANKulous, its 13th Backstage Series brew, on Aug. 31.

The limited-release imperial red IPA comes in at 9.5 percent ABV and 90 IBUs.

ReDANKulous is made with a combo of Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe hops, bringing together “spicy, piney and tropical” notes.

The beer will be sold across Founders’ distribution footprint in 750 ml bottles.

“We love hops,” said Dave Engbers, co-founder and president, Founders Brewing Co. “Simple as that. Our brewers love to experiment with new varieties, new combinations and new techniques. This dank beer is a fun, intense showcase of hops. We hope all of you hop heads out there enjoy it.”

The brew will have a suggested retail price of $9.99.

ReDANKulous is the second Backstage Series release this year and a third will be released this fall.

The Backstage Series began in 2011 to help take limited release, boundary-pushing beers outside of the Founders taproom.
