Grand Rapids Symphony produces 'Star Trek: Live in Concert'
A Grand Rapids arts organization is heading to space.
The Grand Rapids Symphony will perform “Star Trek: Live in Concert” from the Grammy-nominated musical score of the 2009 "Star Trek" movie — while the film is screened in high definition — this Saturday in Grand Rapids at 8 p.m. at DeVos Performance Hall. The score was written by Michael Giacchino.
The event is a collaboration between the symphony and Grand Rapids Comic-Con, scheduled to be held at DeVos Place this Friday through Sunday.
A space-themed photo booth and cocktails will accompany the performance in the Keeler Lobby.
Constantine Kitsopoulus will lead the orchestra.
He is in his eighth year as music director of the Queens Symphony Orchestra and the general director of Chatham Opera. Kitsopoulus founded the opera in 2005.
An after party will be held at Cygnus 27 for MySymphony360, the symphony’s young professionals membership program.
Tickets start at $32 and are available at the DeVos Place box office, symphony office and by phone.
Tickets also can be purchased at GRSymphony.org and Ticketmaster outlets.
