Construction firm names corporate counsel
A man with a background in economic development and politics is the new in-house corporate counsel at a local construction firm.
Rockford Construction in Grand Rapids said last week that it has named Joel Freeman to the role.
Freeman will provide Rockford Construction with legal needs by reviewing and negotiating contracts, leases and agreements.
Most recently, Freeman was VP of government affairs since 2014 at Michigan Economic Development Corp., or MEDC.
Previously, he was deputy legal counsel in the Michigan Senate and associate legal counsel and senior policy advisor in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Freeman also served as a Kent County commissioner from 2012 to 2013.
Freeman holds a bachelor of music from Michigan State University and a J.D. from the Michigan State University College of Law.
